Newton Johnson Family Vineyards Pinot Noir 2018
By Christian Eedes, 13 January 2020
A blend of grapes from three different vineyards on this Upper Hemel-en-Aarde property, the 2018 vintage is an extremely attractive rendition of the variety if perhaps not possessing quite the same depth as the stand-out 2017.
Aromatically, there are notes of rose, musk and white pepper to go with red berries while the palate is medium bodied with a good core of fruit, fresh acidity and fine tannins. Pure and precise as you’d expect from this producer. Approximate retail price: R410 a bottle.
CE’s rating: 93/100.
