Palladius 2017

By , 30 July 2019

Multi-faceted.

A Swartland blend of Chenin Blanc, Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Semillon, Semillon Gris, Viognier, Clairette Blanche, Roussanne, Verdelho, Colombard and Palomino, and needless to say, the nose is extraordinarily complex with notes of pear, white peach, green apple, lemon, herbs and hay plus an ever so slight waxy note. The palate is relatively light bodied (alcohol: 13.5%) with pure fruity and fresh acidity before a super-long, every so slightly grippy finish. It’s a beautifully judged effort by Eben Sadie and team remembering that the infamous Western Cape drought was at its worse. A wine that is at once thrilling and thought-provoking. Wine Cellar price: R810 a bottle.

Editor’s rating: 96/100.
