Paulus is the label of Paul Jordaan, formerly of Sadie Family Wines, and his partner, Pauline Roux. The Bosberaad Chenin Blanc 2024 (price: R350) is sourced from a Paardeberg vineyard planted in 1980, with fermentation and 12 months’ maturation in a combination of old oak and concrete egg.
The nose shows a touch of reduction alongside soft citrus, apricot and pineapple. The palate is rich and flavourful, with a relatively thick texture, but tangy acidity keeps things fresh and prevents any undue sense of heaviness. Generous and decidedly more-ish. Alc: 13%.
CE’s rating: 94/100.
