Pieter Ferreira Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs 2013

By , 7 April 2020

All right.

The 2013 vintage of Pieter Ferreira Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs that follows the much lauded 2012 is now out and again it’s superlative stuff. Again from Chardonnay drawn from across the Western Cape, the nose shows citrus and green apple, freshly baked bread and a hint of reduction. The palate has a dense core of fruit with driving acidity and fine, creamy mousse. It makes a huge impression in terms of reined-in power but perhaps lacks the detail that the maiden vintage already had on release although this will surely come with time in bottle.

CE’s rating: 93/100.
