Raats Cabernet Franc 2013

Cabernet Franc is known for its fragrance and the 2013 from Raats Family Wines is particularly so with a definite leafiness to go with red and black fruit plus attractive oak-derived notes, the wine having been matured for 18 months in French oak, 25% new. The palate meanwhile displays pure fruit, fresh acidity and fine tannins. It’s finely crafted as you’d expect from this producer but leaner and more austere than the stellar 2012. Wine Cellar price: R425 a bottle.

#WinemagRating: 92/100.
