11 months in French oak, 10% new. A wonderfully complex nose with a hint of reduction, some musky fragrance, red and black fruit, charcuterie and subtle vanilla. Lovely weight on the palate, tangy acidity and smooth tannins. Rich and full but well balanced – seductive in a word.

Wine Cellar price: R400
Only made in the best vintages, production was single second-fill 228-litre barrel. On the nose, red and black cherry, some fynbos, white pepper and spice. The palate is leaner and fresher than its counterpart above – not as layered but more crystalline.
