Springfield Life from Stone Sauvignon Blanc 2015 vs Springfield Special Cuvée 2015

The same but different.

The two examples of Sauvignon Blanc from Robertson property Springfield, namely Life from Stone and Special Cuvée, are legendary but the former probably more the popular favourite. These tend to take a while to come around and we recently tasted the 2015 vintage side by side.

Springfield Life from Stone Sauvignon Blanc 2015
From a vineyard planted on rocky quartz. A herbal top note before lime, grapefruit and green melon. Rich with a cream texture and a coated acidity. Packs a punch – alcohol just 12.5% but TA is 8.3g/l.

Editor’s rating: 90/100.

Springfield Special Cuvée 2015
From a vineyard planted on sandy alluvial soil. Citrus blossom before pear and white peach. Seemingly lighter and fresher with a saline quality to the finish – the more elegant of the two. Alcohol is 12.5% and TA 7.3 g/l.

Editor’s rating: 91/100.
