Survivor Reserve Bushvine Chenin Blanc 2019

By , 22 December 2021

“Go big or go home,” seems to have been the thinking behind the Reserve Bushvine Chenin Blanc 2019 under the Survivor label from Overhex. From Swartland grapes, 80% of the wine underwent spontaneous fermentation and maturation in new oak, the remainder inoculated in older oak.

The nose shows a top note of honeysuckle before peach, apricot, pineapple, vanilla and spice while the palate is rich and thick textured with well-integrated acidity, the finish gently savoury (alcohol: 14%). It’s old fashioned in its opulent styling but entirely seamless and will impress many. Price: R290 a bottle.

CE’s rating: 91/100.
