Trizanne Signature Wines Sauvignon Blanc 2018
By Christian Eedes, 21 January 2019
What gives Sauvignon Blanc its broad popular appeal can also be its undoing in that those piercing aromatics and flavours combined with crisp, occasionally seering acidity make it a bit monotonous.
Trizanne Barnard of Trizanne Signature Wines somehow always manages to make a version that manages to be quintessentially true to the variety without being tedious. The 2018 from Elim fruit is “green” in the best sense – the nose is marked by bell pepper, green melon, lime and some herbal lift but also a little white peach. The palate has a good core of fruit, nicely coated acidity and a savoury finish. Not without weight and texture but also plenty of snap, crackle and pop (alcohol: 13.17%). Wine Cellar price: R110 a bottle.
