Villa Esposto Chenin Blanc 2020

Villa Esposto is the top-end range of wines from Olifants River producer Klawer Cellars, the name paying homage to Louis Theodore Esposto and his fellow Italians who arrived here in 1914 and were responsible for building the canal that waters vineyard in the district.

Grapes for this wine again from 38-year-old Skurfberg vineyards as grown by the celebrated Basie van Lill. Complex aromatics of pear, white peach, citrus, hay and herbs as well as the meres hint of leesy complexity precede a palate that has concentrated fruit, vibrant acidity and a pithy finish. It’s a wonderfully pure and punchy wine which offers great quality relative to price at R120 a bottle.
