Vin de Constance 2008

By , 31 May 2013

Vin de Constance 2008Yesterday a  pre-release tasting of the 2008 vintage of Vin de Constance, vinified by Adam Mason before his departure for Mulderbosch but bottled under the new regime which sees Hans Astrom, previously general manager for Hess Family Estates, as managing director and Matthew Day as winemaker.

What is striking about this wine is how precise it is, which is to say less exotic relative to previous vintages. Peach, some blossom and spice on the nose, pure and fresh on the palate. Right now, it’s difficult to engage with but it will no doubt age extremely well. Astrom’s not-so-secret agenda is to elevate this wine’s reputation and, in turn, its price and precision is probably the best way of doing this.

Score: 93/100.

    Very smart assessment Christian.
Hope Grant will mature some in a good place to find out in the fullness of time. Think I certainly will.
