Wolf & Woman Chenin Blanc 2019

By , 19 August 2020

Bite me.

Jolandie Fouché has done it again, the 2019 vintage of her Chenin Blanc under the Wolf & Woman label picking up where the excellent maiden 2018 left off. Grapes from old vines, half grown on Paardeberg granite and half on Malmesbury iron, the result is a wine of attention-grabbing concentration and complexity.

The nose shows citrus, peach, some intriguing reduction, a hint of spice, earth and even a little mushroom while the palate has great fruit density to go with tangy acidity, the finish grippy to the point of being ever so slightly bitter. Characterful and hugely satisfying to drink. Price: R255 a bottle.

CE’s rating: 94/100.
