Needs time.

Did you know? Only four examples of Riesling have ever having  received a rating of 5 Stars in the 34-year-history of Platter’s. The 2012 from Groote Post in Darling (R70 a bottle) was nominated during tasting for the 2013 edition but was not endorsed leaving it at 4½ Stars.

My thinking is that is an entirely likeable wine but not stamped with greatness. It’s very primary at the moment, showing grape-like aromas and flavours more than anything else. It has a residual sugar of around 20g/l and does appear sweet but not unduly so – there’s a nice high total acidity of  7.5g/l to lend balance. Right now I’d score it 16/20 but the overall analysis is pretty smart (alcohol by volume 11.5% and pH 3.08 and I think two or three years in bottle will only do it good.
