Angus Paul is one of the winemakers operating out of the Karibib Wine Craft custom crush facility in Stellenbosch, his Barbary Fictions Chenin Blanc 2021 from a Bottelary vineyard planted in 1972. The nose shows citrus, peach and a touch of earthiness while the palate is quite lean with punchy acidity and a finish that oscillates between being saline and slightly bitter. Pure, direct and still tightly wound at this stage. Price: R315 a bottle.
