Terracura new releases

By , 29 May 2026

Terracura brandowner Michael Roets and winemaker Chris Groenewald (whose own label is Pounding Grape) are set to part ways but the collaboration is ending on a high, the 2025 Syrah a thing of beauty.

Terracura Chenin Blanc 2025
Price: R465

From Paardeberg. Matured for 10 months in concrete egg. Initially some reductive funk that blows off with time in glass, followed by peach, apricot and potpourri. The palate is currently very, very tightly wound – lean, fresh and pithy.

CE’s rating: 92 | Distinctive

Terracura Syrah 2025
Price: R465

From a Durbanville vineyard on shale. 100% whole-bunch fermented. Matured for 10 months in 500-litre barrels and concrete egg. Compelling aromatics – more black than red berries, fynbos, lavender, olive, cured meat and black pepper. Lean but not angular on the palate – snappy acidity, firm but not too stern tannins, long and dry on the finish. For Syrah aficionadas – does not pander in the slightest! Alc: 13.3%.

CE’s rating: 97 | Distinctive
