2012 Ultra Liquors Best Value Wine Guide: CE’s top wines

The 2012 edition of the Best Value Wine Guide sponsored by Ultra Liquors is now available. In order to be included in the book, wines must firstly sell for not more than R60 a bottle and then had to receive a rating of 2½ Stars or better on being tasted by a panel – there were 982 submissions of which 380 made the grade.
Best Value Winery of the Year was Du Toitskloof, the fifth time that this Rawsonville winery has achieved this honour in the guide’s 12-year history, made more remarkable by the fact that no other winery has won more than once.
Here are the wines I rated 16 or more on the 20-point scale (judges operated in two panels of three, and therefore I didn’t see all categories):
