AdVini South Africa, a subsidiary of French wine company AdVini, has acquired the majority share in the Kleine Zalze Wines based in Stellenbosch. Kleine Zalze, which had a turnover of R210 million in 2021, has strong distribution in South Africa and significant market share in Sweden, UK, Netherlands and Germany. Founder Kobus Basson remains a shareholder in the company and will be involved in management for the next three years.

The transaction concerns the wine business, including the Kleine Zalze and Foot of Africa brands, the historic site and headquarters of Kleine Zalze including the winemaking and maturation cellars and the wine tourism site. The Basson family will retain full ownership of the vineyards, these subject to a long-term supply contract.

This latest transaction, which will be implemented as soon as all statutory processes have been completed, will add Kleine Zalze Wines to the AdVini SA portfolio already consisting of Stellenbosch Vineyards, Ken Forrester Wines, L’Avenir and Le Bonheur.
