Boela Gerber, winemaker at Groot Constantia since January 2001 and Cape Winemakers Guild chairman 2018 – 2019, is soon to leave the property to take up a position in Virginia, in the southeast of USA. With more than 350 wineries, Virginia is currently the 8th biggest wine-growing state in that country – Gerber will be working specifically in Monticello AVA close to the city of Charlottesville.
Applicants to replace Gerber are required to have a minimum 10 years’ winemaking experience in a similar senior role – more information here.

You will be sorely missed I’m sure. Go well and enjoy your new life in the USA.

A huge loss for the Estate, the Industry, the Country as well as for friends and especially the family. May they be as happy and blessed in the USA and Virginia
