Glen Carlou in Paarl has been sold for an undisclosed sum by Hess Family Wine Estates to the Pictolus Consortium, headed by Wayne Pitout, a leading figure in the mobile data industry. Earlier in the year it was announced that Johnnie Calitz, previously of Anura, would take over from the long-serving Arco Laarman as winemaker. The sale of the winery was apparently prompted by the Hess family wishing to focus on those properties in their portfolio that offer the greatest opportunity for growth in the USA.
