Prescient Minority Report 2020: Call for entries

By , 5 October 2020

Entries for the Minority Report are now open, the focus being on wines from varieties whose respective total plantings do not exceed 2 000ha.

This takes the place of the Alternative Varieties Report. South Africa’s nine most widely planted varieties (Chenin Blanc, Colombar, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Chardonnay, Pinotage, Merlot and Ruby Cabernet in that order) all have plantings of over 2 000ha and together makeup 84% of the national vineyard – this is a chance for the more subordinate varieties to shine!

Wines will be tasted blind by a three-person panel consisting of Christian Eedes as chairman as well as Roland Peens and James Pietersen, both of Wine Cellar, Cape Town merchants and cellarers of fine wine.

Entries are now closed. Samples must be delivered to 44 Liesbeek Road, Rosebank, Cape Town between 08h30 and 15h00 on Thursday 22 October.
