RisCura White Hot Wine Awards: Call for submissions

LogoAnnouncing the fourth annual White Hot Wine Awards featuring Sauvignon Blanc-Semillon blends, convened by winemag.co.za and sponsored by RisCura, a global financial services provider.

A tasting is proposed to identify the best in the country and producers are invited to submit. Conditions of participation are: 1) wines submitted must be current release or soon to be released (minimum stock requirement: 100 x 6 bottles) and 2) must be specifically labelled as blends (no wines labelled as “Sauvignon Blanc” but containing a fraction of Semillon to be accepted).

There is no entry fee and producers are welcome to enter more than one vintage – last year there were 30 wines from 21 different cellars.

Wines will be tasted blind by a three-person panel consisting of Christian Eedes as chairman as well as Roland Peens and James Pietersen, both of Wine Cellar, merchants and cellarers.

The results will be announced at an awards function on Wednesday, 7 September and will appear on the website which attracts around 11 500 users a month.

LogoThe producer of the wine judged  best overall will win a new 225-litre Blanc Bordeaux Export barrel from Tonnellerie Sylvain worth approximately R11 850,

Samples (two bottles per submission) to be delivered to 44 Liesbeek Road, Rosebank, Cape Town between 08h30 and 15h30 on Thursday 11 August. No entry form required.
