Six new WWF Conservation Champions announced

Worldwide Fund for Nature South Africa recently announced that six new wine farms have been awarded Conservation Champion status, these being:
Boland Cellar (Paarl)
De Grendel (Durbanville)
Glenwood (Franschhoek)
Hartenberg (Stellenbosch)
Lomond (Cape Agulhas)
PaardenKloof (Bot River)
This brings the number of properties working to protect the biodiversity of the Cape Floral Kingdom to 60 – they collectively own 48 156ha of land, of which 25 626ha are conserved.
According to the latest Global Risk Report 2023 from the World Economic Forum, biodiversity loss and ecosystem collapse is among the top environmental long-term risks facing humanity.
