The RisCura White Hot Wine Awards 2014: Call for submissions
By Christian Eedes, 28 July 2014
In conjunction with RisCura, a global financial services provider, I am pleased to announce that the White Hot Wine Awards featuring Sauvignon Blanc-Semillon blends will again be taking place this year.
A tasting is proposed to establish the top three examples in the country, and producers are invited to submit a wine. Conditions of participation are: 1) wines submitted must be current release or soon to be released (no museum class entries) and 2) must be specifically labelled as blends (no wines labelled as “Sauvignon Blanc” but containing a fraction of Semillon to be accepted). There is no entry fee and producers are welcome to enter more than one vintage – last year there were 41 wines from 30 different cellars.
Wines will be tasted blind by a three-person panel consisting of me as chairman as well as Roland Peens and James Pietersen, both of Wine Cellar, a Cape Town firm which brokers and cellars fine wine.
Findings will appear on my blog which attracts around 3 800 unique visitors a month. The winning wines will be announced at an awards lunch hosted by RisCura and catered by top chef Franck Dangereux on Thursday, 4 September 2014.
Those wishing to participate should send two bottles to: 7 Clarendon Road, Mowbray by Wednesday 13 August.
