The 33rd Nedbank Cape Winemakers Guild Auction takes place at the Spier Conference Centre, Stellenbosch on Saturday, 30 September. There are 61 wines on offer and I attended a blind tasting held for the media yesterday.

Adi Badenhorst and Duncan Savage Love Boat Red 2016
W.O. Swartland. 65% Shiraz, 27% Grenache, 8% Cinsault. A very aromatic nose of red and black fruit, lavender and fynbos. The palate shows pure fruit, bright acidity and firm but fine tannins, the finish long and savoury. Gorgeous!

Johan Joubert Wines Granite Selection Chenin Blanc 2016
W.O. Stellenbosch.  White peach, hay and dried herbs on the nose. The palate shows strikingly pure fruit plus zesty acidity before a pithy finish. Great focus.
