A.A. Badenhorst Red 2016

There’s more Shiraz in the 2016 vintage of A.A. Badenhorst Red than usual – 71% compared to 52% in the case of 2015 and 56% in 2014 – the rest of the blend consisting of 13% Grenache, 11% Cinsault and 5% Tinta Barocca.
The nose is compelling with notes of red fruit, olive, fynbos, smoked meat and white pepper while the palate is light bodied with lemon-like acidity and fine tannins, the finish particularly dry and chalky (alcohol: 13%). Quintessential Swartland. Wine Cellar price: R335 a bottle.
