Natasha Jacka, winner of the first ever Next Generation Awards in 2024, continues on her upward trajectory with her 2025 releases.

Viura 2025
Price: R275
From Simonsberg-Paarl on decomposed granite. Matured for 10 months in 600-litre barrels. The nose is restrained, showing peach and a subtle nuttiness. The palate is understated rather than showy, with a creamy texture, soft but adequate acidity and a gently savoury finish. A wine whose subtlety is its chief appeal. Alc: 13%.

White Blend 2025
Price: R775/magnum
From 650 staked vines planted in Noordhoek – interplanted to Chenin Blanc, Verdelho, Grenache Blanc, Colombar, Roussanne and Semillon. Matured for 10 months in an old 225-litre barrel. The nose is super-expressive with flinty reduction preceding flowers, herbs, citrus and peach. The palate is vivid and vibrant, combining impressive fruit concentration with punchy acidity. Intense, complex and persistent. Alc: 12.5%.

Grenache 2025
Price: R290
Grapes from a Piekenierskloof situated at 750m above sea level. 60% whole-bunch fermentation. Matured for nine months in old oak. An alluring nose of potpourri, cranberry, red cherry, strawberry, pomegranate and fynbos. The palate combines pure fruit with bright acidity and fine, granular tannins. Wonderfully poised, striking the sweet spot between delicacy and generosity. AlcL 13.5%.

Syrah 2025
Price: R775/magnum
From 750 staked vines in Noordhoek. 80% whole-bunch fermented. Matured for nine months in an old 300-litre barrel. Pronounced reduction before cured meat, a wild herbal note, red berries, orange and olive. The palate is light with lemon-like acidity and crunchy tannins. Singular and uncompromising – a wine that will divide opinion but reward adventurous drinkers. Alc: 13%.

    Great winemaking, but I feel not enough has been written in general so far about these two small Noordhoek vineyards. Even though still very young, they are already delivering exceptional, distinctive wine. From a consumer perspective, these are certainly some of the most exciting new plantings in SA.
