Blackwater Hinterland Cinsaut 2014

Seksie perfeksie.

Cinsaut is becoming all the rage and it’s not difficult to see why when you encounter Francois Haasbroek’s Blackwater Hinterland Cinsaut 2014 (Wine Cellar price: R220 a bottle).

From a Darling block which also supplies Chris Alheit, Ian Naudé Donovan Rall and Duncan Savage, 60% of the fermentation was whole bunch and maturation lasted 18 months in old barrels. On the nose, notes of lavender, fynbos, spice and white pepper before a little red fruit (raspberries, cherries) plus olive. Pure and true, lovely freshness, fine tannins. Light but entirely convincing. Plenty of flavour intensity and great length.

#WinemagRating: 93/100.
