BLANKBottle The Original Spaniard 2012

By , 11 March 2015

Spanish fly.

Spanish fly.

W.O. Swartland.  A blend of equal parts of Garnacha, Monastrell and Cariñena (Grenache, Mourvèdre and Carignan) and hence the name. Red fruit, purple flowers, fynbos and spice. Medium bodied and poised – good fruit expression, fresh acidity and fine tannins.  Really well observed on the part of the winemaker. Price: R97 a bottle.

Score: 92/100.

BLANKbottle winemaker Pieter Walser designs his own labels and was winner of the Grand Prix at the inaugural Wine Label Design Awards.
