Boekenhoutskloof Franschhoek Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Nifty.

While recent vintages of Franschhoek Cabernet Sauvignon from Boekenhoutskloof seemed made in a fashion rather too eager to please, which is to say with plenty of ripe fruit to the fore and soft tannins, the 2015 is a return to form.

The nose is particularly fragrant with notes of violets and fresh herbs before cassis, oak spice and some earthiness. The palate is relatively medium bodied (alcohol is 14%) with pure fruit, fresh acidity and well-judged oak. Subtle and elegant. Wine Cellar price: R465 a bottle.

Editor’s rating: 90/100.
