Proof that the world can’t get enough top-end single variety Cab, Boekenhoutskloof have made two versions of Cabernet Sauvignon since 2015, one from Franschhoek and the other from Stellenbosch. Tasting notes and ratings for the current-release 2016s as follows:
Boekenhoutskloof Franschhoek Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Wine Cellar price: R465
Matured for 18 months in French oak, 100% new. Includes small portion of Cabernet Franc. Black and blue fruit, Christmas pudding, pencil shavings, earth and spice on the nose. Rich and smooth textured with plenty of sweet, dense fruit.
Editor’s rating: 89/100.
Boekenhoutskloof Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Wine Cellar price: R465
Matured for 18 months in French oak, 60% new. Again includes a small portion of Cabernet Franc. A somewhat shy nose with hints of dark fruit, violets and pencil shavings. The palate is full but that much better balanced than its counterpart above, the finish long and savoury.
Editor’s rating: 91/100.

Oh my soul i humbly disagree. The FRANSCHHOEK cab has much more longevity and my palate prefers it much more.
With regards to score that is subjective and i think it deserves higher both of them.
Keep your good work going

Hi Smirrie, By way of comparison: Franschhoek was scored 94 by Tim Atkin MW, 90 by Neal Martin and 94 by Platter’s; Stellenbosch 93 by Atkin, 89 by Martin and 93 by Platter’s so you’re in good company when it comes to your preference for the former. I found the Stellenbosch a touch more restrained and hence why I liked it more.
