Brookdale is a Paarl property owned by Englishman Tim Rudd, the acclaimed Duncan Savage acting as consultant winemaker.
Maiden release is a Chenin Blanc 2017, vinification taking place in two 500-litre barrels, one new and the other used. Deep yellow in colour, the nose shows top notes of flowers and dried herbs before orange and yellow peach plus ginger and other spice while the palate is rich and full with tangy acidity and a savoury finish (alcohol: 13.5%). A swashbuckling debut. Wine Cellar price: R280.
Editor’s rating: 94/100.

Hi Jonathan, I gather that there are various blocks of Chenin on the property, the youngest already over 20 years old.
