Brookdale is the Paarl property owned by UK businessman Tim Rudd, the winemaking team consisting of Xander Sadie, son of Eben, and Shanice du Preez, a former CWG Protégé of the Year, after Kiara Scott Famer’s departure to Hazendal in late 2024.

Bradbourne Estate White Blend 2025
Price: R425
59% Grenache Blanc, 23% Roussanne, 12% Marsanne, 4% Palomino and 2% Vermentino. A portion of the Grenache Blanc saw two weeks of skin contact. Matured for 10 months in large-format oak. Lemon, stone fruit, herbs, a hint of ginger and other spices plus some leesy complexity on the nose. The palate is rich and flavourful, tangy acidity lending verve, the finish deeply savoury and lightly grippy. Alc: 13.5%.

CE’s rating: 95 | Distinctive

Brookdale Grenache Noir 2025
Price: R465

20% whole-bunch fermentation. Matured for eight months in 2,500 litre foudre. Red and black berries, rose and a hint of spice on the nose. The palate is generous and ripe, technically dry but with an impression of sweetness, the fruit sun-kissed without becoming blowsy. Silky tannins provide an agreeable texture, although a touch of warmth on the finish detracts slightly from the overall poise. Alc: 14.5%.

CE’s rating: 91 | Delicious
