Bushmanspad Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Flying the Bonnievale flag.

When the results of the recent Prescient Cabernet Sauvignon Report were uploaded on to Facebook, Menno Schaafsma, owner of Bushmanspad near Bonnievale, jokingly suggested that we’d been “scared to invite” the winery to participate. We subsequently prevailed on him for a bottle, tasting note and score as follows:

Despite a 15.5% alcohol, it appears medium bodied and classical in style. Red and black fruit, a little herbal character plus liqourice. Already quite mellow with a pleasantly savoury finish. Price: R99 a bottle.

#WinemagRating: 87/100.
