Cecilia Chenin Blanc 2020

By , 20 August 2021

The name of this wine pays homage to the patron saint of musicians – winemaker Cerina van Niekerk is also a trained concert pianist. Grapes from a Piekenierskloof vineyard planted in 1962, fermentation is begun in tank and finished in older 500-litre barrels, maturation subsequently lasting seven months. The nose is expressive with notes of citrus, peach, apricot and a hint of pineapple as well as some leesy complexity while the palate is rich and intensely flavoured but equally not short of freshness, the finish long and savoury. Price: R195 a bottle.

CE’s rating: 92/100.
