Cecilia Pinotage 2020

By , 14 December 2021

The name of this wine pays homage to the patron saint of musicians – winemaker Cerina van Niekerk is also a trained concert pianist and part of the proceeds fund a community music project for children in the Citrusdal area.

Grapes for the Pinotage 2020 are from Skurfberg bush vines, the oldest planted in 1976 and the youngest in 1981, winemaking involving spontaneous fermentation before maturation lasting 15 to 18 months in older oak. Expressive aromatics of plums, cherries, floral perfume, fynbos and spice while the palate has great fruit depth, bright acidity and grippy tannins – it’s a slightly rustic but entirely engaging wine. Price: R195 a bottle.

CE’s rating: 91/100.
