Creation Glenn’s Chardonnay 2020

Glenn Martin, son of JC and Carolyn Martin who own Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge property Creation, is a Viticulture and Oenology student at the University of Stellenbosch and he’s got a bright future ahead of him if his 2020 Chardonnay is anything to go by.

From clone 96, vinification involved spontaneous fermentation before maturation lasting 10 months in French oak, 50% new (total production: 600 bottles). The nose shows struck-match reduction before pear, peach and citrus while the palate has a dense core of fruit and punchy acidity before a saline finish. A very focused wine that manages to combine depth with drive. Price: R920 a bottle.
