Dancho Luka Padstal Blanc 2018

Toothsome.

What to expect from a table wine made from Muscat de Frontignan? Quite a lot in the case of the Dancho Luka Padstal Blanc 2018, grapes from the Polkadraai property owned by the sister of Danie Carinus of Carinus Family Wines, winemaking by Lukas van Loggerenberg.

The nose shows floral and herbal top notes before lime and litchi pip to go with the variety’s typical grapiness. The palate is juicy and super-fresh – it has a kind of sourball quality to it – while the finish has a nice pithiness, thanks in part to five days of skin contact. Alcohol: 11.3%. Price: R145 a bottle.

Editor’s rating: 91/100.
