De Kleine Wijn Koöp Die Posman Grenache Blanc 2022

By , 19 March 2023

De Kleine Wijn Koöp has had various stakeholders over the years but is today run by winemaker Wynand Grobler and his wife, Anya. It’s never actually been a “co-operative” but rather a vehicle to source grapes widely and make less mainstream wines.

Grapes for Die Posman Grenache Blanc 2022 come from vineyards planted in the early 2000s on Riebeekberg, winemaking involving 50% fermentation in older 500-litre oak and 50% in stainless steel tanks, before maturation lasting nine months.

Exceptionally pretty aromatics of pear, peach, citrus, potpourri, fynbos and hay precede a palate that that’s concentrated and direct – dense fruit offset by crisp acidity, the finish possessing a saline quality. Great balance, layers of flavour, a slight grippiness lending interest. Price: R195 a bottle.

CE’s rating: 94/100.
