Du Bois Chenin Blanc 2025

By , 5 August 2026

Sonop in Koelenhof has been in the Du Bois family since 1931. Fourth-generation Gabriël du Bois worked with Chris Alheit from 2020 to 2024, making a debut wine under the family label in 2024.

The follow-up 2025 vintage has just been released (R440 a bottle). From two north-facing shale vineyards planted in 1982 and 1986, it was matured for 11 months in a combination of older 228- and 500-litre barrels.

Enticing aromatics of pear, peach, lemon, floral perfume and herbs precede a palate that is pure and poised with fresh acidity, the finish long and pithy. That much tighter and more punchy than its already impressive predecessor. Alc: 13.16%.

CE’s rating: 95 | Serious
