Esona Single Vineyard Chenin Blanc 2017

Next level.

Lourens van der Westhuizen of Robertson property Arendsig really is a dab hand when it comes to Chenin Blanc as the Single Vineyard 2017 from boutique winery Esona where he consults, proves once again.

From young vineyards, the wine was matured in older oak for 10 months. The nose shows honeysuckle before pear, white peach, citrus and herbs plus some yeasty complexity. The palate is super-concentrated with tangy acidity – lovely presence and balance, a slight bitterness to the finish only lending interest. Price: R278 a bottle.

Editor’s rating: 93/100.
