Fairview Lanner Hill Syrah 2021

By , 10 May 2024

The Fairview cellar has long championed Syrah and the Lanner Hill 2021 is a cracker. Grapes from the Charles Back-owned Darling farm of the same name,  the winemaking involved 30% whole-bunch fermentation before maturation lasting 18 months in older oak.

The nose shows red and black berries, blood orange, violets, lavender and fynbos while the palate is succulent and fresh with fine tannins – plush and juicy on entry but ends wonderfully dry (alc: 13%). Price: R550 a bottle.

CE’s rating: 95/100.
