Gabriëlskoof new releases

The Project Range from Bot River cellar Gabriëlskoof includes wines that Peter-Allan Finlayson and the rest of the winemaking team “can get geeky about”, tasting notes and ratings for the new releases below:

Amphora Sauvignon Blanc 2023
Price: R310
60% of grapes from own vineyards, 40% from Olifantsrivier. Spontaneously fermented and matured for seven months in clay. Subdued aromatics with subtle notes of peach, yellow apple and peach plus a touch of leesy complexity. The palate is rich and cream with well-integrated acidity, some spice to the finish. A slow burner of a wine that will appeal to those who don’t like their Sauvignon too lean or acidic. Alc: 14%.

Whole Bunch Syrah 2023
Price: R200
75% fermented in tank, 25% in older barrels. Dark berries, lavender, herbs and white pepper on the nose. Good fruit density, bright acidity and grippy but not coarse tannins. Succulent on entry, the finish dry. Tons of personality. Alc: 13.5%.
