Hier Cinsaut 2021

By , 27 May 2022

New from the House of Hier, the collaboration between Lourens van der Westhuizen of Arendsig and entrepreneur Jaco Pienaar, is a Cinsaut 2021.

From Bonnievale grapes, the wine was matured for nine months in a combination of barrels and concrete egg. The nose is still rather primary at this stage with notes of cherry, wild strawberry plus hints of musk and spice while the palate is fruit-driven with tangy acidity and soft tannins, the finish gently savoury. Entirely engaging, alcohol is a mere 11%. Price: R350 a bottle.

CE’s rating: 89/100.
