Kasteelberg Pinotage 2015

Curvaceous.

Kasteelberg is the reserve label of large-volume Swartland winery Riebeek Cellars and the Pinotage 2015 is well worth seeking out. Grapes from irrigated bush vines, the wine was matured for 12 months in French oak, partially new. On the nose, macerated cherry, flowers, earth and spice – just so typical of the area. The palate is sweet, rich and ripe with moderate acidity and tannins that are soft in the best sense. Serve slightly chilled with hearty fare. Price: R140 a bottle.

#WinemagRating: 89/100.
