The Blanc de Blancs 2017 from KWV-owned label Laborie is raking in the awards and there’s no question that it’s very good. From 100% Chardonnay, it’s designated as “W.O. Western Cape” and spent 60 months on the lees. Alcohol is 12%.
On the nose, a hint of flinty reduction before citrus and baked bread while the palate shows particularly pure fruit, punchy acidity and a fine mousse. It’s well balanced and precisely made with lots of savoury detail. Price: R189 a bottle.
CE’s rating: 93/100.

Looks like the 2017 is sold out and the 2018 is now available. Did you maybe try that?
