Lammershoek White Mysteries 2017
By Christian Eedes, 25 October 2019
At the recent launch of the Mysteries range from Swartland property Lammershoek, the white blend particularly attracted attention. A blend of Chenin Blanc, Viognier and Chardonnay, the nose shows citrus, stone fruit and even a little pineapple plus the merest hint of yeasty complexity. The palate meanwhile is rich (impressively so given an alcohol of just 12%) yet still fresh thanks to tangy acidity. Very good fruit definition, the finish long and dry, this manages to be complex and more-ish at the same time. Price: R170 a bottle.
Editor’s rating: 92/100.
