Lismore Chardonnay 2014
By Christian Eedes, 20 December 2016
Located on the Riviersonderend Mountains near Greyton with no immediate wine-producing neighbours, Lismore really can claim uniqueness of terroir. How does this manifest in the wines? In the case of the Chardonnay, I think it’s a particular richness and concentration of fruit. The 2014, which was matured for 11 months in older barrels of various sizes, shows a hint of reduction before citrus, peach and a little spice. The palate has good depth of flavour and nicely coated acidity – a substantial offering. Wine Cellar price: R215 a bottle.
