Made by Hendrien de Munck, formerly of Longridge, from Stellenbosch grapes, the Maia Grenache Noir 2022 offers great quality relative to its price of R165 a bottle. After de-stemming, whole berry fermentation was done in small open top fermenters while maturation lasted eight months in older oak.
The nose shows cranberry, strawberry, fynbos and white pepper while the palate is nicely balanced with clean, pure fruit, zesty acidity and powdery tannins. Brings a smile to your face.
