Nederburg Blank Canvas new releases
By Christian Eedes, 22 April 2026
What are Heineken’s intentions with its wine brands? A visit to Nederburg reveals a strong commitment to sustainability, with agricultural specialist Henk van Graan driving work on the ground at the Paarl property that feels notably hands-on and highly technical – perhaps more so than one’s impression of head office would suggest.
As for the Nederburg portfolio, a new experimental range has been launched under the Blank Canvas label. Tasting notes and ratings for the maiden releases as follows:
Blank Canvas Sauvignon Blanc 2025
Price: R295
From Darling. Fermented in tank before four months of maturation in a third-fill 300-litre barrel. Subtle notes of green bean, bell pepper and grapefruit on the nose while the palate is polished, rich and creamy, the acidity neatly integrated. Alc: 13%.
CE’s rating: 91 | Serious
Blank Canvas Cinsault 2024
Price: R395
From Bottelary, Stellenbosch. Matured in older oak for 18 months. A hint of reduction before rose, plum and cherry on the nose. The palate has good fruit definition, fresh acidity and a dry finish. Pure, juicy and readily drinkable. Alc: 12.5%.
CE’s rating: 91 | Serious
