Patatsfontein Steen 2021

By , 21 January 2022

Reenen Borman of Patatsfontein relates the Montagu Chenin Blanc vineyard that supplies grapes for the wine is small and therefore affords only pick making the timing of that pick crucial. He reckons he got it spot on in 2021 and the purity of fruit is indeed striking.

Pear, peach, citrus and fynbos on the nose while the palate has great poise and energy – it’s a wine that offers great refreshment value but equally is intricate and delicate. An absolute pleasure to drink. Release is set for the beginning of March and the price will be R390 a bottle.

CE’s rating: 96/100.
